Step Up to the Plate, Fight ALSGreat Food, Great Fun, Great CauseThe Muscular Dystrophy Association is making plans for Step Up to the Plate, Fight ALS - Friday, April 11th at the Hyatt Regency in downtown Tulsa.  It’s a savory salute to Lou Gehrig and to America’s favorite pastime, only kicked up a notch or two. It’s ballpark food like you’ve never seen before when ten of Tulsa’s favorite chefs come together to vie for your votes serving up gourmet versions of your favorites.   We’ll round the bases with raffles, auctions and entertainment.  You can help us hit it out of the park again this year for ALS!  Sponsorships and tables are still available – you don’t want to miss this event. ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, muscular dystrophy attacks the nervous system and gradually deteriorates motor function in the brain and spinal cord.  Life expectancy after diagnosis is typically three to five years, although MDA estimates that about 10 percent live more than 10 years.  There is currently no cure, and an estimated 5,000 people are diagnosed each year. The Muscular Dystrophy Association is the world’s leading nonprofit health agency dedicated to finding treatments and cures for muscular dystrophy, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and other neuromuscular diseases. It does so by funding worldwide research; by providing comprehensive health care services and support to MDA families nationwide; and by rallying communities to fight back through advocacy, fundraising and local engagement. For more information about Step Up to the Plate, Fight ALS, contact Becky Prine with MDA at 918-749-7997.  For information about MDA and ALS, visit www.mda.org.
