In response to the horrific devastation that Hurricane Harvey has brought to the Houston area, local media outlets are raising funds for the American Red Cross’ Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund. On Friday, September 1st, all five Cox Media Group radio stations will join FOX23, My41 and Cox Communications to collect cash donations and aid in relief efforts.

"Tulsa is a giving community and we know first-hand the devastating effects weather can have on the lives of families when they least expect it,” said Dan Lawrie, Vice President and Market Manager of Cox Radio, Tulsa spoke of the inspiration behind the fundraiser. “Through the help of The American Red Cross, we're confident Tulsa will show how much we care about those suffering in the Houston area and send the help they so desperately need."

Cash and check donations will be collected by Red Cross volunteers between 6am and 6pm on Friday at LaFortune Park and 2625 S. Memorial Drive in Tulsa.

The Red Cross is currently asking that individuals focus on cash donations if they wish to immediately help those impacted by the hurricane. "We've heard from Tulsans who want to extend their generosity and compassion to Texas families affected by Hurricane Harvey," said Cathy Gunther, Vice President and General Manager of Cox Television, Tulsa. "So all our Cox stations are working together to make helping Houstonians as easy as possible."

Cox Media Group’s News 102.3 KRMG (KRMG-AM/FM), K95.5 (KWEN-FM), Mix 96.5 (KRAV-FM), 103.3 The Eagle (KJSR-FM) and Spirit 105.7 (KWEN – HD2) will be joined by FOX23 (KOKI-TV), My41 (KMYT-TV) and Cox Communications.

Roger Ramseyer, Vice President and Tulsa Market Leader for Cox Communications said, “It’s part of our company culture to take care of our neighbors in need. We hope through this event, we can reach our listeners and viewers across Northeast Oklahoma and provide a quick and easy opportunity for them to help our Texas friends who have been severely impacted by Hurricane Harvey.” Online donations can be made here or by texting HARVEY to 95920.
