2013 Tulsa Oktoberfest

As one of Tulsa’s most celebrated festivals, Tulsa Oktoberfest has a long and storied history of providing authentic German food, drink, and fun to generations of Oklahomans. What’s not to like about bratwurst, the Chicken Dance, Wiener Dog races, German beers, Bavarian cheesecake, great music, and thousands of your friends, all together at one place?

Quick Details The 2013 Tulsa Oktoberfest is to be held October 17-20. Hours for the festival are as follows:

  • Thursday: 5-11 PM
  • Friday: 11 AM – 1 AM
  • Saturday: 11 AM – 1 AM
  • Sunday: 12 – 6 PM

Admission is $6, payable at the gate via cash or credit card. Kids 12 & under get in free! The festival grounds are at River West Festival Park, 2100 S. Jackson Ave., Tulsa, Oklahoma. You may click here for a map. Parking and Shuttles The FREE SHUTTLE will be returning to Tulsa Oktoberfest in 2013! The shuttle was one of the most well-received additions to the 2012 festival. Routes and maps will be announced soon. Paid parking is available near the festival grounds in $5 and $10 lots.

Festival Concessions Food and drink are available all over the Tulsa Oktoberfest grounds. In order to purchase food and beverages, festival-goes will need to purchase Oktoberfest tickets with either cash or credit card at ticket kiosks. A wide variety of vendors means great food choices, ranging from authentic German food to the more typical fair meal.

Activities and Entertainment Experience a wide range of entertainment, competitions, arts, crafts, and kid-friendly activities at this year’s Tulsa Oktoberfest! Whether you’re a fan of traditional German music or local Oklahoma bands, Tulsa Oktoberfest has you covered. Like sports? Das Sports Cafe features a big-screen to view current sporting events. The Bier Barrel Race entertains participants and audience alike with its relay keg rolling contest. Das Jugendzelt (The Childrens Tent) has its own entertainment and activities for the kids.

Games of Oktoberfest

The intense demeanor of the Krug Carry competitors…the electric atmosphere of the Dachshund Dash (aka Wiener Dog Race)…the icy stare of determination as the first barrel is rolled out in the McNellie’s Bier Barrel Race. Welcome to the Oktoberfest Games!

The Dachshund Dash
Wiener dogs are already funny to look at. Now try watching over 40 of them zig, zag, jump, and generally get confused in a test of speed and intelligence! Ok, we’re being dramatic. The pups just need to run 150 feet from one end of the Dash to the other. Sound easy enough? Start training your wiener dog now!

McNellie’s Bier Barrel Race

The Fassler Hall Stammtisch is the center of the universe Saturday at 1 PM for true fans of the beer keg. Why? Because it is ground zero for the legendary McNellie’s Bier Barrel Race! The intense back-and-forth barrel-rolling action is enough to make anyone dizzy with excitement.

Ready to Roll?

Krug Carry
Don’t cry over spilled beer! Traditionally one of the most accessible Oktoberfest games for novices, Stein Carry contestants are scored on speed AND spillage. Carrying up to 20 pounds of beer quickly and safely across the course can be difficult, but the FREE beer at the end of the competition hopefully makes it worth the effort!
Location and Time: The Oktoberfest Games Courtyard, Friday @ 7 PM
Carry the Krug

Strong Stein
Are you Strong Stein? This competition of strength pits contestants against beer steins…as in, “How long can you hold out 34 ounces of beer?” The best part? You get to keep the beer in the stein!
Location and Time: The Oktoberfest Games Courtyard, Saturday @ 7 PM
