Broken Arrow recycling remains interrupted, city offers alternatives

A destructive fire at a Tulsa recycling processing plant disrupted recycling pickup in BA

The City of Broken Arrow’s curbside recycling program has been interrupted since a fire badly damaged the Tulsa facility used to process Broken Arrow’s recyclables.

Now, a month later, that processing plant is still recovering from the blaze and Broken Arrow still can’t process recycling.

Instead, the city is taking the contents of those blue bins, along with all other trash, to a waste-to-energy plant. There, the trash and recycling are burned and converted to electricity.

If you’d rather, you can take your household recycling to The M.e.t. Recycling Center in Broken Arrow, the city said.
