The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) recently linked the suspect in the double shooting in Sequoyah County Saturday, July 17, to a stolen vehicle from an Oklahoma City carjacking that same morning.

The OSBI Latent Evidence Unit collected evidence from the silver Nissan abandoned in Antlers, Okla., Sunday morning. That evidence places 27-year-old Lee King in the car.

The Sequoyah County Sheriff’s Office requested the OSBI investigate after two good Samaritans, John Derek Riggs, 39, and Jake Myers, 32, were found shot on I-40 near mile marker 293 in Sequoyah County.

“The two men that were shot are believed to be good Samaritans that had picked up a man and took him to the Love’s convenience store in Vian,” OSBI said. “A gas can and gasoline were purchased at that time. Investigators believe the good Samaritans drove the suspect back to his car at which point they were shot. It is believed the suspect put gas in his vehicle and left the area, possibly eastbound on I-40.”

On Sunday morning around 9:30 a.m., Antlers police officers reportedly attempted to pull a suspect over matching the stolen vehicle driven by the suspect. The suspect reportedly led the officers to a dead-end road where he took off on foot into a heavily wooded area in Antlers.

The victims are both reportedly from Arkansas. OSBI says one was shot in the face and the other was shot in the torso multiple times and was taken to an Arkansas hospital in critical condition but expected to survive.

Victim John Derek Riggs is reportedly a former officer with the Van Buren, Arkansas police where he served from 2007-2014.

Riggs and Myers remain hospitalized in Arkansas in critical but stable condition. A GoFundMe account has been started in their names.

OSBI says King is known to have connections to the Shreveport, LA area and the Houston, TX area and that they will not stop until he is found.

If you see him, do not approach and contact the OSBI immediately at (800) 522-8017 or email tips@osbi.ok.gov or 9-1-1.
