Oklahoma elementary school coach will help officiate Super Bowl

SALINA, Okla. — An Oklahoma elementary school coach will be part of the officiating crew for the Super Bowl in February.

Wickliffe Elementary School, in Salina, posted on social media that Jerrod Phillips was selected as a down judge for the NFL’s main event.

“We are super proud of our Coach Phillips for being chosen as Down Judge for Super Bowl LVII!!!” said the school.

Wickliffe Elementary serves about 100 students in grades pre-K-8.

Phillips is listed on the NFL’s officiating crew list, which also indicates this is Phillips first time working the Super Bowl.

The Cherokee Nation said Phillips is likely the first Cherokee Nation citizen to officiate a Super Bowl game.

You can watch the Super Bowl on Feb. 12 at 5:30 p.m. on FOX23.
