OWASSO, Okla. — On Thanksgiving, the Apple Barrel Cafe in Owasso offered free Thanksgiving meals from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Jad Alkhatib, the son of Apple Barrel Cafe’s founder, said they fed more than 200 people today.

He also said one Apple Barrel Cafe location does a free Thanksgiving meal each year.

Alkhatib said the free Thanksgiving meal has been a on-going tradition for 18 years, starting in 2004 at their Bixby location.

He also explained why they give out the free meals.

“Well because we wouldn’t be here without our community, so it’s important for us to give back, you know, we’re happy to have to chance to give back at least once a year,” Alkhatib said.

Alkhatib said they intended to continue to tradition every single year for Thanksgiving.
