Program will fund emergency home repairs for Broken Arrow residents

BROKEN ARROW, Okla. — A new Broken Arrow program will fund emergency home repairs for eligible residents.

The Homeowner Emergency Repair Assistance Program benefits income-eligible, owner-occupied, single-family homeowners who live within Broken Arrow city limits. The city said the program will fund projects that are an immediate threat to the health and safety of residents.

The city said common eligible repairs include electrical, plumbing, roofing, heating, air conditioning, gas line, structural and water and sewer line repairs. Remodeling or redesign projects are not eligible.

Funding is provided by a Community Development Block Grant through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. The city will pay the contractor for repairs at no cost to the homeowner.

City employees will determine what repairs are necessary, obtain quotes from pre-qualified contractors, inspect completed work and pay the contractor.

Income eligibility requirements are available on the city’s website. Applications are available in English and Spanish.
