Jeter’s home in the Davis Islands section of Tampa sold for $22.5 million, the Tampa Bay Times reported. The closing for the sale occurred on Friday, according to Smith & Associates, the real estate firm that handled the listing.

The 30,875-square-foot home was listed in September 2020 for $29 million. It was not immediately clear who purchased the home, the Times reported. Deeds that are published into the public record typically take several days.

The sale breaks the record of $16.7 million for a home in The Oaks subdivision in Thonotosassa, according to the Tampa Bay Business Journal. That home, which sold several weeks ago, was also listed by Smith & Associates, the newspaper reported.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady had been renting the home from Jeter, the Miami Marlins CEO who moved into a 19th-floor condominium in Miami’s Coconut Grove neighborhood when he took over the Marlins in 2017, the Miami Herald reported.

Jeter’s property in Tampa sits on 1.25 acres with 345 feet of open bay frontage, the Tampa Bay Business Journal reported. The home includes seven bedrooms, eight full and eight half bathrooms “and an intimate owner’s retreat that offers a fireside seating area, two spacious custom closets, and spa-like bath and steam shower,” according to Smith & Associates.

The home includes nearly 9,000 square feet of outdoor space, Bob Glaser, CEO of Smith & Associates Real Estate, the firm that is handling the listing, told the Times in September 2020.

Handling the transaction for Jeter were Smith & Associates’ Stephen Gay and Katie Glaser, the Tampa Bay Business Journal reported.

“A home like Jeter’s shows an evolution of what is possible and what is to come as Tampa continues to attract attention and luxury buyers,” Gay said in a statement.

Jeter, meanwhile, reportedly bought a waterfront home in Coral Gables for $16.6 million last month, according to the South Florida Business Journal.

According to the publication, a company using the same Detroit post office box used by Jeter bought the 1.91-acre lot. While no ownership of the Delaware-registered company was disclosed, the box on the deed is the same one Jeter listed on his Tampa mansion he owns under his own name. The box is also used by Jeter Publishing, the South Florida Business Journal reported.
