Officials said Tiffany Farratudo was hitting a parked vehicle with a bat on Sunday but had left the scene before police arrived. Eventually, she returned as police were speaking with the vehicle’s owner. That’s when officers said Farrauto told them she had “strangled” her child and she left him in an apartment.

Officers went into the apartment to check on the child’s safety and found him unconscious and unresponsive. They tried CPR and he was transported to a nearby hospital by the fire department. The child was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the hospital, officers said.

Farratudo was initially arrested and charged with two counts of criminal mischief. She faces additional charges of murder and risk of injury to a minor, police said.
