LUMBERTON, N.C. — A North Carolina mother was shot and killed while driving a vehicle with her 5-year-old twins and another man inside.

According to WBTW and WMBF, the incident occurred about 2:30 p.m. Monday near Meadow View and Linkhaw roads in Lumberton. Brittany Hunt, 23, of Lumberton, was shot and lost control of the vehicle before plunging into a canal, the news outlets reported.
Hunt was pronounced dead at UNC Health Southeastern, Lumberton police said. Crews also rushed three passengers – a 20-year-old man and two children – to a nearby hospital, the news outlets reported. Their condition was not immediately available, according to WMBF.
Hunt’s sister told WBTW that the children in the vehicle were Hunt’s 5-year-old twins. Hunt also had a third child, who was not in the vehicle, the outlet reported.
