Prince Philip transferred to new hospital for treatment of infection, Buckingham Palace says

LONDON — Britain’s Prince Philip, the husband of Queen Elizabeth II, has been transferred to another hospital “where doctors will continue to treat him for an infection, as well as undertake testing and observation for a pre-existing heart condition,” Buckingham Palace said in a news release Monday.

According to The Associated Press, the 99-year-old Philip, who was admitted to London’s King Edward VII Hospital on Feb. 16 as a “precautionary measure” because he was not feeling well, is now being treated at St. Bartholomew’s Hospital.

Philip, also known as the Duke of Edinburgh, “remains comfortable and is responding to treatment but is expected to remain in hospital until at least the end of the week,” the release said.
