FREEHOLD, N.J. — Bruce Springsteen still has a hungry heart when it comes to ice cream cones.

The Boss still visits Jersey Freeze, the ice cream shop he frequented as a child in Freehold, New Jersey, NJ.com reported. That gave a local Realtor a chance to snap a selfie recently with the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, the website reported.

Springsteen has talked about his love for Jersey Freeze at concerts and in his 2016 autobiography, “Born To Run.” He said that as a child, he did not want the ice cream -- just the cones to munch on, NJ.com reported. Employees gave him a few broken pieces to chew on as he rode through Monmouth County in the back seat of his parents’ car with his two sisters.

On May 7, Spencer Freedman was buying a hot dog and french fries at the shop, which also serves fast food, when he saw Springsteen, 71, parked and speaking on his cellphone inside his Range Rover, NJ.com reported.

Freedman sprang into action -- born to run, one might say -- and asked Springsteen if he could take a selfie with him. The singer obliged, giving Freedman a cool memory.

“I threw my car in park, hopped out and ran around to his driver side window, he rolled it down mid-phone call, posed for the picture, and I thanked him,” Freedman told NJ Advance Media.

Freedman was not sure what Springsteen was eating, but it was not the first time the two had met.

“We actually met and shook hands about 20 years ago when I was waiting tables at the Gibson Place Grill at the Freehold Gardens Hotel,” Freedman told NJ.com. “I believe he was there for a banquet ceremony for his daughter’s equestrian endeavors.”

It was a great night for Freedman.

“Just a typical Friday in Freehold, you know, showed some beautiful homes, and then ran into Bruce Springsteen at Jersey Freeze,” Freedman wrote on Facebook.
