TULSA, Okla. — A Tulsa pastor is showing signs of improvement after he’s been in the hospital for 38 days battling COVID-19.
Shannon and Mitch Wilburn are pastors at The Park Church of Christ in Tulsa and were diagnosed with COVID-19.
Mitch, who spent three weeks in the COVID-19 ICU, at one point needed 22 bags of blood and plasma and was put on a ventilator.
“He coded for seven seconds, and they call that a code blue pause because he came back on his own,” Shannon said. “... it was scary sitting in the room watching the numbers go down down zero and flat line.”
Shannon said Mitch is now improving and is expected to be in rehab later this week or in the next few weeks.
The Wilburn family is also thanking healthcare workers for the care and their support.
“Thankfulness and Gratefulness,” Shannon said. “I don’t know how to express how I feel about that because you saved my husbands life. How do you thank someone for saving your husband’s life.”
The couple is so grateful to the people in the community and around the world who have reached out to pray, give and show support during this difficult time.
