TULSA, Okla. — Tulsa police are searching for the person or people behind an attempted ATM robbery at Communication Federal Credit Union late Wednesday night.
TPD says they were notified of an alarm going off at the credit union near East 31st Street and South Sheridan Road around 2:15 a.m.
When they got there, police say they found pieces of the ATM and money scattered around the parking lot.
Police say officers across the Tulsa metro were notified to be on the lookout for a vehicle capable of pulling an ATM out of the ground.
One officer came across a truck that fit that description, but it sped off when they tried to pull the vehicle over.
The chase took police to Sand Springs where they say the car went off-road leaving the Sand Springs Expressway near the Zink Road Ranch exit.
The car eventually crashed into a tree near West 6th Road and Ridge Drive, and the suspect(s) then reportedly got out and ran on foot.
Tulsa police put a helicopter in the air and K9 units on the ground but were unable to locate whoever was inside the vehicle.
Police say a gas line was hit but no one was injured in the pursuit or crash.
